FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

The things people ask most. Still stuck? Reach out and a real person will help.

Is Snowball free? +

Yes. The free plan includes daily journaling, weekly & monthly habit statistics, and 3 habit slots — with up to 5 earned through consistency. Snowball Plus ($4.99/month, $39/year, or $79 once for lifetime) unlocks voice-to-text journaling, your weekly and monthly recap letters, and 5 habit slots with up to 10 earned.

What are the weekly and monthly recaps? +

At the end of each week and month, Snowball reads your habit data and journal entries and writes you a short, warm letter about how you grew — what stayed on target, what slipped, and what’s worth carrying forward. It’s plain language, not charts, and it’s the feature people tell us they look forward to most.

Do I have to keep a streak? +

No — on purpose. Snowball uses gentle weekly targets instead of streaks. If you miss a day, nothing breaks and nothing scolds you. The goal is steady, repeatable progress, not a perfect chain.

Who can read my journal entries? +

Your journal entries and recap letters are encrypted at rest with your own per-user key — only Snowball’s secured servers can decrypt them, and only to show them back to you and to write your recap letters. Everything moves over encrypted connections. We never sell your data, there are no third-party ad trackers in the app, and your journal text is never sent to our analytics provider. See the Privacy Policy for exactly how this works.

Which platforms is Snowball on? +

Snowball launches on iOS via the App Store. An Android version isn’t available yet. Your account and entries stay with you — sign in on a new iPhone and everything is there.

Can I export or delete my entries? +

Deletion works today and it’s thorough: remove individual entries any time, or delete your whole account in-app — immediate, permanent, gone for good. A full data export is planned; owning your data is a core Snowball principle and it’s coming shortly after launch.

How do I cancel Plus? +

You can cancel from your device’s subscription settings in a couple of taps, no questions asked. You keep Plus features until the end of your billing period, then drop back to the free plan with your data intact.
